About StoneSense Edition 01 · 2026
Why StoneSense exists.
Kidney stone prevention is often explained too quickly, too vaguely, or too late. We were created to close that gap.
Clear enough for patients. Useful enough for clinicians.
Patients are told to drink more water, avoid certain foods, or wait and see. But many never learn what type of stone they had, whether testing is needed, or which risk factors are actually driving recurrence.
StoneSense was created to close that education gap. Our materials are designed to be clear enough for patients, useful enough for clinicians, and practical enough for real-world clinic visits.
Why did this stone form?
It's the one question every stone patient deserves a real answer to — and the question every StoneSense guide is built around.
Patient education that holds up in the clinic.
StoneSense materials are short, visual, and built around the questions patients already ask. We avoid clinical jargon without softening clinical accuracy.

Drafted with clinical input. Reviewed before anything ships.
Every guide begins with the questions clinicians hear most often after a stone episode. From there, we draft in plain language, layer in evidence from peer-reviewed literature and major guidelines, and route the result back through specialist review.
Photography is editorial and intentional — never stock-clinical. Illustrations stay typographic and minimal. We don't use generic medical iconography.
Each printed guide is sized to live on a clinic counter, fit in a patient's hand at the kitchen table, and survive a black-and-white photocopy.
Clear education, transparent support.
StoneSense is an independent educational initiative supported by LithoLyte Health. StoneSense does not sell products through this website. Our educational materials are intended to support patient–clinician conversations and are not a substitute for medical care.
StoneSense is not affiliated with or endorsed by the American Urological Association.
